Ingredients
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, diced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 pound ground beef or lamb
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon saffron strands
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 cup frozen peas, thawed
- 1 cup spinach leaves, chopped
- 1/4 cup milk
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the ground beef or lamb, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Cook, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, until the meat is browned and cooked through, about 10 minutes.
- Add the tomato sauce to the skillet and stir to combine. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, chopped basil, chopped parsley, and grated parmesan cheese.
- In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat. Add the saffron strands and turmeric powder, and stir until the milk turns yellow. Set aside.
- In another bowl, mix together the grated mozzarella cheese and grated cheddar cheese.
- To assemble the Tiranga Lasagna, start by spreading a layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Add a layer of cooked lasagna noodles on top of the meat sauce.
- Spread the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles.
- Add a layer of cooked lasagna noodles on top of the ricotta cheese mixture.

- Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the lasagna is heated through.
