- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 cloves
- 2 green cardamoms
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/4 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1/4 cup cream
- Coriander leaves for garnishing
Instructions:
- Start by preparing the paneer. Cut the paneer into bite-sized cubes and place them in a bowl. Add cornflour, salt and black pepper powder to the bowl and toss well to coat the paneer cubes.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the paneer cubes until they turn golden brown. Once done, take them out on a plate and keep them aside.
- In the same pan, add 2 tbsp oil and heat it. Add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cloves, green cardamoms and cinnamon stick to the pan and fry for a few seconds.
- Add sliced onions to the pan and fry until they turn golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste to the pan and fry for a minute.
- Add tomato puree to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and garam masala to the pan and mix well.
- Add salt to taste and mix well. Cook the masala for 3-4 minutes until the oil starts to separate.
- Add 1/4 cup cream to the pan and mix well. Cook the gravy for 2-3 minutes until it starts to thicken.
- Add the fried paneer cubes to the gravy and mix well. Cook the paneer in the gravy for 2-3 minutes
- Garnish the Paneer Do Pyaza with coriander leaves and serve hot with naan, roti or rice.
Tips
- To make the paneer more flavourful, you can marinate it in yogurt and spices for a few hours before frying.
- You can adjust the spice level according to your taste by adding more or less red chilli powder.
