How To make Chinese Idli? | Instant Chinese Idli Recipe
Chinese Idli is a fusion dish that combines the flavors of Chinese cuisine with the traditional Indian Idli. The soft and fluffy Idli is topped with a savory and spicy Chinese sauce that is sure to tantalize your taste buds.
Here is a breakfast recipe that is easy to prepare and delicious to eat.
Ingredients
For Idli:
- 1 cup Idli rice
- 1/2 cup urad dal
- 1 tsp fenugreek seeds
- Salt as per taste
- Water as required
For Chinese Sauce:
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp garlic (minced)
- 1 tbsp ginger (minced)
- 1/4 cup onions (chopped)
- 1/4 cup carrots (finely chopped)
- 1/4 cup cabbage (finely chopped)
- 1/4 cup capsicum (finely chopped)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- 1 tbsp red chili sauce
- 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 1 tsp sugar
- Salt as per taste
Instructions:
For Idli:
- Wash the Idli rice and urad dal separately and soak them in water for at least 4-5 hours.
- In a grinder, grind the urad dal and fenugreek seeds together to make a smooth and fluffy batter.
- Next, grind the soaked rice to a fine paste.
- Mix both the batters and add salt as per taste.
- Keep the batter aside for fermentation overnight.
- Grease the Idli molds with oil and pour the batter into them.
- Steam the Idlis for 10-15 minutes on medium flame.
- Check the Idlis by inserting a toothpick in them. If the toothpick comes out clean, the Idlis are ready.
For Chinese Sauce:
- Heat oil in a pan and add minced garlic and ginger. Saute for a few seconds.
- Add onions and saute till they turn translucent.
- Next, add chopped carrots, cabbage, and capsicum. Cook them for 2-3 minutes on medium flame.
- Add soy sauce, vinegar, red chili sauce, tomato ketchup, sugar, and salt. Mix well and cook for a minute.
- Remove the pan from the flame.
Assembling:
- Take the steamed Idlis out of the molds and place them on a plate.
- Pour the Chinese sauce over the Idlis.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
